Iain Blackwood
Iain is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser with over 20 years experience in accounting, tax and business generally. After qualifying with a mid tier firm he took a position of Financial Controller with a successful client business and grew into the role of Group Financial Director. During that time he acquired huge experience in all aspects of commercial life managing the relationship with the Group’s bankers (with whom he still works with a number of the firms’ clients), handling all Health & Safety issues, having full control of the Groups Quality Assurance certification, developing extensive employment law knowledge and experience as well as handling the Group’s accounting / tax compliance work and tax planning. During this time he developed the skill of reporting financial information to a non technical Board of Directors’ in a timely and understandable way, a skill he brings to the client base.
In 2003 he and his wife Teresa Blackwood decided to start their own practice and wanted to have a skill that perhaps set them apart. Teresa is still an important and intrinsic part of the business giving the practice a real family feel, where all clients are known personally. Accounting information is important but people care about the amount of tax they pay so he took the specialised tax examinations to enable the firm to ensure their clients only pay the amount they are legally obliged to and not a penny more. It is this focus which has led to the provision of a proactive tax driven service that has been the foundation of the firm’s success.
Ian Futcher
Ian is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years experience in auditing, accounting, tax and business generally. He too qualified in a mid tier firm where he gained huge experience in accounting, auditing and compliance work, including charities and schools. Ian brings a wealth of experience in communicating financial information in a clear and meaningful way to people at all levels within a business.
During his time with the mid tier firm, Ian managed a large portfolio of corporate clients dealing with the audit of clients with a turnover of between £10 million and £50 million and also the preparation of accounts and corporate tax returns for smaller owner managed companies with turnovers between £50,000 and £5 million. Ian has significant experience in looking after the accounting and tax affairs of a diverse range of businesses in terms of size and sector.
Ian joined Teresa and Iain Blackwood at the start of 2005, and is responsible for looking after the corporate clients of the firm.
Our Staff
Mark Hibberd
Mark is a Certified Accountant with over 25 years experience in all aspects of accounting, tax and trust work. He qualified in a mid tier firm and became extremely proficient technically in every department in which he worked including accounting, corporation tax, personal tax and trust tax. Mark has developed a speciality in trust and inheritance tax planning work and will lead the firms’ provision of this important area. His ability to acquire and utilise vast amounts of technical knowledge for the benefit of his clients has been the envy of everyone who has worked with him.
Book keepers
Our book keepers offer an efficient and friendly service preparing the accounting records for our clients who do not have the time or expertise to manage this aspect for themselves. They also provide advice to our clients who do undertake their own book keeping.
Payroll
Our internal payroll department is operated by two members of staff whose specialist payroll knowledge enables them to provide an efficient, accurate service for our client base at very competitive rates.
Accountants
We have a number of accountants who are responsible for the preparation of the year end accounts for a wide variety of businesses and who also run the accounting function for some of our mid-sized clients who find outsourcing the accounting function to us to be a good working solution.
